If you purchased your home almost anywhere, between 2005 and 2008, chances are that you own more than it is presently worth.
The fact that you owe more on your home than it is worth, is not necessarily a bad thing. If you bought your home with the intention of living there for many years to come, and you have no problems financially being able to afford to make the mortgage payments, then you have nothing to be concerned about. Home prices have already increased in some areas, not much of an increase, and they will continue to increase. There will come a day when your home will, once again, be worth more than you paid, and more than you owe.
If you are in a situation where you need to sell your home, and you own more than it is worth, then there are several options that we can talk about.
